The Lenoir County SPCA is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preventing animal cruelty, providing public education on responsible pet ownership, and encouraging community responsibility in decreasing the numbers of homeless cats and dogs. We were founded in 1973, and are located in Kinston, NC.

Along with traditional SPCA duties, we also serve as the community's animal pound.

We rely heavily on donations and volunteers to support our efforts.

Did you know: The Lenoir County SPCA received over 3,600 animals last year....that's almost 10 new animals every day!

Matching Fund Donor for Kitty Adoption!

Shelter Friends, if you’d like to make a difference today, we have an EASY way to do so! We’ve taken in over 700 cats/kittens in the first 6 months of this year, and sadly we’ve only been able to rescue 116. We have a wonderful anonymous donor who will MATCH ANY DONATIONS UP TO $2,000, which will allow us to continue our reduced adoption fees for cats/kittens! SPAY/NEUTER COUPONS

Contact us through Facebook or email to receive information on how to get a $50 coupon through a local nonprofit organization. We would ask that you contact us only if you live in Lenoir or Greene County, and truly cannot afford to pay full price for altering your pet.

Prayer for Ugly Animals

Lord of all creatures, we offer this prayer--

For the one-eyed,lop-eared, three-legged lame,

The worm-eaten, slab-sided, bare of hair,

For the worn and cast out, wild or tame,

The unbright, unsightly, toothless, knock-kneed,

Stiff-jointed, gray-muzzled, old, deaf or blind,

For the slack-jawed, splay-footed, worst of breed,

Used up and abused by man unkind,

For the sick and starving that patiently wait

Without whine or whimper to suffer their fate--

Because they all share Creation's soul,

In your kingdom, Lord, make them lovely and whole!
